  When inserting a USB drive, the drive will show up on the right side
  dock, but an error message pops up stating that the drive could not be
  mounted, in looking at the details of the error, it is stating that
  Super-User privileges are required.

+ editing the /etc/fstab file  ( sudo vi /etc/fstab ) and commenting out the 
cdrom entires will fix this problem.
+ This issue exists with ubuntu eee 8.04 as well.
