Unfortunately this cannot be fixed in hardy without backporting the
atk5k drivers to 2.6.24
Intrepid already has the ath5k drivers and will contain the fix.

Hello
The wlan range under Ubuntu Eee (and under every other alternative distro I've
tested so far on my eee) is much lower than it is under the preinstalled
Xandros Linux (I've got an EEE PC 900).
Hope you can fix this for a future release! Would be great!
