I have had a problem where my wifi has problems connecting (as you said the full list of points is available), and maybe on the 5th or so attempt will connect. After some hunting in the logs it appears to be a wpa_supplicant timeout issue.
I did some experimenting with the security settings in my router and found it happens only if wpa2 is used. (It was set to use both wpa/wpa2 as I have a mix of devices). As a workaround I now have my wireless set on wpa only and this works everytime. -- Wifi / WLAN / Wireless shows AP list but cannot connect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/269887 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Eee Coders, which is subscribed to Ubuntu Eee. Status in Ubuntu Eee: New Bug description: Ubuntu-eee 8.04.1 on Asus eee PC 900 (downloaded and installed from ubuntu-eee.com Sept 12th 2008). After boot the wifi is active and clicking on the Networking icon a list of all the access points in range is correctly shown. However, after selecting one AP, the password is eventually asked but no connection is possible. The first dot becomes green, the other stays grey and after a while the attempt fails and the first dot goes back to grey. It happens with both WAP2 and open AP. Fn+F2 keys can disable the Wifi and the blue led indicator switches off correctly. When I try to reactivate the card the led goes blue again for just after 5 seconds and then it goes back off again. The only way to reactivate the card is to reboot the system. Both problems have been reported by many other users in different forums. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-eee-coders Post to : ubuntu-eee-coders@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-eee-coders More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
