Question #47126 on Ubuntu Eee changed:

Status: Open => Answered
Don Thompson proposed the following answer:
I had a similar problem on two routers, a DD-WRT flashed Linksys WRT54GL
running WPA-2 Personal and a stock Netgear DG834G with WPA-PSK cfgd. On
the WRT54GL I had to make sure that I chose WPA2 Personal, Ubuntu
offered WPA and WPA2. On the Netgear I had to ignore the "Automatic"
encryption selection and choose TKIP specifically.
