I can also confirm this bug. The screen dims as configured, but does not return to the original brightness setting once an input action is performed.

Status in Ubuntu Eee: New Bug description: I was using the eee to read a large pdf file, with the screen brightness set to the lowest setting. When plugged in, everything worked fine, but when I switched to battery power the screen brightness would go up to the maximum setting at random times. It would keep doing that again and again despite my lowering it.
