Jonathon Hodges proposed the following answer: That sounds a bit like a firewall problem on your Windows machines. Perhaps you could try disabling the firewall on your Vista machine for a short time, or at the very least, checking that file and print sharing is enabled in the Windows Firewall settings. See if that changes whether the folders are visible or not, and don't forget to re-enable the firewall after you've finished experimenting.
