Hi, not quite sure exactly what the goal of this "team" is, but it has something to do with improving Linux gaming, so I thought I drop by and give a few pointers/ideas.
Quite a few years ago I started Happypenguin GotM[1] a little project with the goal to improve existing Linux games by focusing available resources (aka developers) on a single game, instead of having them spread out over many projects. That worked, some incomplete work aside, mostly pretty well (see SuperTux, SuperTuxKart, LinCity-NG, Windstille). The whole thing however ran out of developers and projects after a while and thus hasn't really done any coordinated work in a while. Some recent discussion[2] however has sparked some interest in a restart, before that can happen I am however interested in getting a proper overview over the whole Linux gaming situation first. For that I have created a few (incomplete and badly organised) webpages in the freegamedev Wiki: * http://wiki.freegamedev.net/index.php/Game_Tasks * http://wiki.freegamedev.net/index.php/Graphics_Tasks * http://wiki.freegamedev.net/index.php/Tool_Tasks * http://wiki.freegamedev.net/index.php/Engine_Tasks The goal behind these pages is basically to collect anything that is broken in Linux gaming, be it missing features in the asset creation toolchain (aka Blender and Gimp), in the games themselves, the surrounding tools or whatever. The intention is to create a list that puts the spotlight on key issues, that, when fixed, would improve gaming in Linux. If possible the tasks should be broken down into bite sized portions that could be completed by a single developer, but for the start just having the overall problem defined is ok as well. At the moment there really aren't much clear guidelines what should and should not go on that list, so those that have some ideas floating around, feel free to add them, we can sort them out later.
