Actually, this is not correct. The Alternate ISO has the same Kernel of the
Desktop ISO. The main difference is the Alternate has NO fancy GUI
installer but rather a Text-Based Installer for special cases like LOW RAM:

As I have mentioned on my previous email, Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 and 13.10 both
don't really support NON-PAE CPUs and therefore, can not be installed on a
machine with NON-PAE CPU.
