As 14.04 is an LTS release, I think it would be best to provide the most mature software (Feature and Stability) currently available. 14.10 will give GNOME music more time to gain feature parity and to go through more rigorous QA.
We won't be changing any of the existing default apps for 14.04. However will probably include gnome-weather and perhaps gnome-maps as well. Longer term will evaluate switching to gnome-music and gnome-photos, but they are not quite there just yet.

I agree that we should push GNOME core apps as much as possible, but we
need to make sure first that they are ready. Else, it will only give a
very bad impression and everybody's going to lose. By the way, this
raises (again) the question of Epiphany (Web now) vs Firefox...
Firefox has a huge advantage in that it comes with free (to us) security updates for the life of the release. That alone is probably reason enough to stick with Firefox.
