The fix for this issue was released in gpredict 1.1-3ubuntu1 in Ubuntu
Lucid (or possibly an earlier version). Gpredict now uses the system
libgoocanvas, instead of clashing with it.
I am marking this bug as a duplicate of bug #192518, as the problem and
its resolution are being tracked there. Please see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gpredict/+bug/192518 for
details.
Thanks again for reporting this bug!
