A neat trick for preserving your settings is to have the /home folder on a separate partition. So even if the upgrade doesn't go well, you can do a fresh install on the root partition without disturbing the /home partition and most of the settings will be the same as before. When I did a fresh install for edgy over dapper, it looked exactly same as dapper as I had a separate partition for /home. -- Regards, Satish
