I just chopped off your statement asking not to send links of HowTos because, I have to do. If everything is smooth and easy, there is no meaning in living, especially there is no meaning in using Linux. There is always a fun quotient related to trying and making things work. Secondly, most HowTos are written by people who had problem, found out what the problem was, tried their best to solve the problem and did, and was humble enough to write a document on their experience so that it is not as much harder for others to do the same. There is a problem with the Alcatel Modem provided by Airtel, as its operation is a bit different from other commonly used modems. And hence, you need to take some extra effort to make it work.
This HowTo explains both why is it so and how to solve it - http://tldp.org/HOWTO/DSL-HOWTO/speedtouchusb.html -- With Regards --- Parthan aka Technofreak [weblog] http://technofreakatchennai.wordpress.com [flickr] http://flickr.com/photos/techno_freak [irc] techno_freak @ irc.freenode.net (#linux-india) -- ubuntu-in mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
