The dmesg says that your cable has initilized to /dev/ttyUSB0. Can you do $ls -l /dev/ttyUSB0 and see if the device is there. If so then you can use that to connect to the modem. You can use the wvdial autoconf to see if the modem is detected $ sudo wvdialconf Regards, PD
