Thats strange. Its almost similar to my xorg.conf and i am so much problem! 
except  a bit of difference here and there, but unimportant i think. Like in 
Device section instead of 
 Boardname "SiS Real256E"
mine is 
 Boardname "sis"
But that shoudl not make any difference.
Prateek could u please send full details of your hardware? May be your system 
has larger RAM?

ps: people are suggesting i simply go and buy an nvidia card. I shall have to 
buy one eventually (i know) but i would have never heard of and would have 
never tinkered with xorg.conf had it not been the desire to unravel this 
mystery. I am learning quite a bit. Its wonderful actually.
