HI all, I have been recently looking for a list of hardware as well as laptops which work with GNU/Linux Ubuntu . I found the wiki which has some details listed at http://www.ubuntu-in.org/wiki/Hardware_Compatibility as well as http://www.ubuntu-in.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Laptops . The last time both the wiki pages were updated were on 15th April 2k7 and 15th May 2k7 respectively. Its almost a yr. and lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. I have few suggestions :-
1. On the laptops make the table have couple of more columns one which states which particular version of Ubuntu was tested against that model, and the second would be a relative price-tag/street price so people have atleast some idea as to at what prices can the hardware be bought. 2. The hardware list given should go through a thorough review as I'm sure newer versions of the Linux kernel 2.6.24-16 as of this writing would have had better support for far more devices. 3. Are there any hardware-vendors who have or are thinking of having a GNU/Linux service support team. That would make a big difference to an everyday user rather than people like us who just like to tinker/fool around and do have time to see what works and what doesn't. ;) Comments, suggestions, improvements and flames all are welcome ;) -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal This email is licensed under http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ 065C 6D79 A68C E7EA 52B3 8D70 950D 53FB 729A 8B17 -- ubuntu-in mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
