The commercial sponsor of Ubuntu: Canonical, is looking for Field Application Engineer in India (location is not a constrain, as you can work from Home. You are expected to have deep Ubuntu skills and good communication skills.

*Job Title:* Field Application Engineer

*Job Location:* Taiwan x 5, Brazil x 1, India x 1* *with regular travel engagements.

*Reports to:* Director of Business Development

*Job Summary:* The application Field Engineer will support specific projects in their market, as well as assist in sales opportunities. The continuous improvement and refinement of engineering and technical sales processes is another key aspect in this position. This involves building working relationships within Canonical to enhance the efficiency of collaboration between different teams.

*Key responsibilities: *The Field Engineer supports activities of different teams within the business development department.* *Examples of tasks that may be requested by specific teams include:

*System builders and ODMs:*

   *

     Provide solutions and best practices for technical issues

   *

     Provide fast response times and estimated time lines for resolving
     individual technical issues

   *

     Assist OEM technical staff in enabling hardware with Ubuntu

   *

     Build strong technical relationships with key OEM partners

   *

     Plan and implement engineering solutions for OEM partners

   *

     Present Canonical engineering on-site for large projects


*Partners:*

   *

     Evaluate, validate, and certify products and solutions from
     Canonical Partners

   *

     Create prototypes and showcases with Canonical Partners to foster
     technical relationship

   *

     Define and document processes for technical cooperation between
     Canonical and Partners

   *

     Assist new partnerships in technical questions

   *

     Plan and implement engineering solutions for OEM partners

*Global Alliances:*

   *

     Provide technical expertise to projects between Global Alliance
     partners and Canonical

   *

     Assist new partnerships in technical questions

   *

     Plan and implement engineering solutions for local facilities of
     Alliance partners


*Required skills and experience:*

   *

     Configure and troubleshoot Ubuntu systems

   *

     Resolve configuration problems quickly

   *

     Implement solutions autonomously

   *

     Respond quickly and reliably on external and internal requests

   *

     Assist with installing and maintaining Ubuntu based infrastructure
     at a partners site

   *

     Communicate with partner's technical staff effectively


*Desirable skills and experience:*

   *

     Script in Python, PERL, or similar languages

   *

     Technical training experience

   *

     Usage of Launchpad, Bugzilla, or other bug tracking systems

   *

     Usage of open source packaging solutions, such as Debian format
     packages or RPM packages

   *

     Usage of a version control system

   *

     Writing technical solutions
