let me clear my throat and say it out loud:

for the moment, linux sucks when it comes to a video-edit software for
ordinary folks that is at par, or exceeds, MoviekMaker, iMovie, Adobe
Premiere, and much less, FinalCut Express, and its more muscular
siblings.
It also does not have anything at par with After Effects, or Shake.

cinerellea, lumeire, kino, et al, aren't there.

*however* if you don't mind an alternative approach,
the vieo-edit part in blender3d can get you diong some cool stuff,
if you don't mind a learning curve more arduous
than wearing stilettos to an expedition to mount everest.
