To answer your II question first -Yes you can use these repository DVD's of 8.10 on 8.04 - when synaptic (or your package tool of choice) sees these DVD's it will ask you if you want to upgrade and you can choose to do an entire upgrade (advisable) or a selective package by package upgrade (troublesome) However what ever your H/W issues are with 8.10 will i think begin to appear with 8.04 upgraded via DVD's ram -- ubuntu-in mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
