From personal experience I would recommend against the AMD machine (YMMV). The only issue is that you'd have to go with the Nvidia binary driver for optimal gaming performance. However I think it would be best if you dropped by the showroom and popped in a LiveCD (you could try both x86 and x86_64 since the processor does support 64bit) to see if everything works (esp Wireless/bluetooth).
