Hi Seems like 9.04 is giving more than enough trouble.
Trying to be proactive i got my 9.04 machine onto a broadband connection and got it to update - first yesterday and then today The first error i got was Error activating XKB configuration. It can happen under various circumstances: - a bug in libxklavier library - a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities) - X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation X server version data: The X.Org Foundation 10600000 If you report this situation as a bug, please include: - The result of xprop -root | grep XKB - The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd *** followed the instructions and this is what i get $ xprop -root | grep XKB _XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "evdev", "pc105", "us", "", "" _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "evdev", "pc105", "us", "", "" $ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd layouts = [us] options = [grp grp:alts_toggle] model = *** i have not been able to rectify this as yet. And i have lost my Hindi typing option, meaning i cannot switch to my hindi keyboard i have tried to delete and add the India / Hindi keyboard and all it does is gives me the "Error activating XKB configuration." message ** Next trying synaptic i get ailed to run /usr/sbin/synaptic as user root. Unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file. However sudo sunaptic works and when i try and update i get the following errors E: linux-image-2.6.28-14-generic: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 E: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.28-14-generic: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured E: linux-image-generic: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured E: linux-restricted-modules-generic: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured E: linux-generic: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured *** Next openoffice refuses to open any file tried to start it up from CLI and see what all it said ailed to run /usr/sbin/synaptic as user root. Unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file. Openoffice opens .doc files but not .odt or .ods - says that the said file is corrupt and should it try and repair that and when i say yes all it continues to say "cannot repair" *** So what do you think is wrong, anyone facing such 9.04 problems ram
