What you have to do is is when you select device you have to select
/dev/ttyUSB0

to check if your tarang (assuming its an Huawei ETS 2288 device) connect it
, then open a terminal (Applications - Accessories - terminal
 and run

~$ dmesg
it will show you some output and it should show your device TI USB xxx
connected to /dev/ttyUSBO - if this happens that just setup gnome ppp or
kppp and that will do the rest.
