We use squid with NTLM auth and i face no such issues in any of the Ubuntu releases since 8.10 . The trick is to either apply the proxy system wide or specifically make Synaptic use the proxy -- ubuntu-in mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
