Hi I use wget to download Linux ISO's and similar large files, but often find them to fail on hash check. This could be because the download happens in multiple attempts either due to net failure or power failure (UPS has conked sometime back). Wget fails to correct the hash fail downloads and insists that the download is complete.
The strategy that i use to correct these hash fail downloads is to use torrents to download the broken pieces where available. trouble is not all are also available as torrent downloads and i cant download a fresh copy as i have a limited data plan net connection. So i would request the learned here to advice on a few Q's: 1. Options on Wget that will correct any incomplete downloads. 2. What other options are available to correct a hash failed download that will be data efficient in that it will only download the corrupt or incomplete pieces. 3. What options are available if the server does not support resume downloads. 4. Also i have seen quite a few links on the ubuntu download mirrors that i dont understand. e.g. .jigdo, .link, .metalink, .template etc. How do we use them. Regards Narendra Diwate
