Sir,
Try this : Power Management Option
On AC Power :
- slide the "set display brightness to : whatever % you want"
On Battery Power :
- make the "Reduce Backlight Brightness" option ON.
- Make both these options default - by PRESSING - "MAKE DEFAULT" button.
This has worked for me for the past 3 days - must have started 20 - 25
times - and the brightness is always as I have set it.
I use lenovo 3000 G530 - Core2 Duo, 2GB, 10.04 installed 3 days back.
Hope this works for you,

thnx Mr. S.Sivakumar
I've checked it ....but unfortunately it is not working for me .....
every-time it used to forget the brightness settings and sets it to its
maximum level on both mode AC and battery
