okay, so that's your inspiration.
IF you do collaborate on authoring such a software,
please call it "HummingBird"

or if you're going to let it do video as well,
then 'HmmVee' which is an obvious take on the slang for the Hummer army vehicle,
to play on audio and video.

hehe.

well, i totally agree with you on incorporating this into a
file-format standard.
just write to the powers-that-be once we get a proof-of-concept.

i hazard a guess such functionality may be built into 'Internet DJ Console"
http://sourceforge.net/projects/idjc/

installed it last night, but alas, too much fiddling around with my
audio/video codecs and software
has resulted in JACK losing its crown and so the DJ came tumbling after.

Too much hassle to fix JACK. If i do, am wary something else may break.
Sigh! The AV mess of linux-distros. [naah! please don't flame me anyone,
and if you do wish to civilly discuss this, on another thread please. thank you]

Finally, I think it's probably easier to submit 'feature requests' to
Internet DJ Console,
and to mainstream software like Amarok, MPlayer... choose your
Caffeine or Codine.

This way, it may become a popular feature and everybody may drive it
to be based on a standard.
Re-inventing the wheel's not required here, just adding another spoke would do.

However, if you do wish to author such a software, I volunteer my
efforts for the User-Interface design.

niyam
