Hi Some days back i posted about red note book as a good daily journal, with tonnes of nice things possible.
well it seems, as usual, that there is something better. Rather it is better in many ways Zim - its available in the Ubuntu repos and is not a big hassle to install once installed go to preferences and check out the plugins and preferably check all then read the manual and start your daily journalling its based on a wiki type concept and once one gets the hang of the basic elements then it just becomes easier and easier what is fantastic is its ability to make new sub pages hyper linked) to place tasks from running text into a task list (complete with date and priority is one so chooses) the characters to use for tagging / categorizing are easy to remember and use like ! for priority and multiple !'s for more priority or the use of @foo for a tag and the use of [ ] to create check boxes. Its quite crazily simple and very useful ** Cons - its ability to print selected pages / sections is very limited - it does export to html and latex but because the data for each section is kept in a separate text file it makes it not so easy to navigate in html its not possible to print the task list separately so if one wants to share (there is a sharing mechanism) it has to be done differently ** Pro's Light on the system decent help multiplicity of uses - note taking , journaling, todo lists etc etc easy to understand structure (based around dates and topics - the latter of ones own making) ** regards ran
