please have a look at the newest developments on the bug #126512
"Install/reinstall wipes out all/other partitions"
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1265192). The
leader of the Linux Mint project fixed the bug for Linux Mint 17 (based
on Ubuntu 14.04). As this is a rather critical bug, I ask you to apply
and test it on Ubuntu's version of Ubiquity ASAP so further data loss
because of a malformed information stops.
