The introduced Ubuntu Software Center is at present essentially an
alternative GUI for Add/Remove Applications but it would in future also
replace Synaptic PM and also maybe Update Manager, as can be read in the
following:

https://launchpad.net/software-center

The Ubuntu Software Center is a utility for installing and removing

Hopefully for the new GUI they will stuck to only those indicated scope
which are all about package management and NOT be expanded to also include
all kinds of configuration apps like YAST in SuSe older versions with which
I have had experience few years back. I used to find the operation of YAST
rather cumbersome because it used to take a lot of time to initialize even
if used for some simple changes.
It appears there is no such departure planned from Adept in case of KDE /
Kubuntu.

Ubuntu 9.10 introduces Grub2 as the default bootloader. When guides in Tamil
are written for installation Ubuntu 9.10, for the sake of those who would
upgrade from previous Ubuntu 9.04 version having older Grub to 9.10 (either
to beta or to final when it comes out on Oct29) whatever issues involved
due to this change for bootloader need to be studied carefully.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Grub2 Reading that page I am not sure whether first
the legacy grub in 9.04 be upgraded to grub2 and then distro 9.04 upgraded
to 9.10 or vice-versa.
