Texlive2013 installed fine, and I've been able to compile after fixing a
problem in advanced-topics.tex (see rev 59)

I found a mirror that's up. You can download the tarball from
<ftp://ftp.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/systems/texlive/tlnet/install-tl-unx.tar.gz>.
Then continue with step 3.
