Why mention them? If we dont, arent these people are going to install
the cd and expect it to work like Windows.
Since codecs for mp3s et al arent included, they dont work by default
like (most) do under windows and I'm sure they'd be real excited with
Ubuntu when they try it, if they weren't warned.
Ah, actually, quite a few don't. Only mp3 and wmv9 work under Windows
without further installation.
They're going to expect things to be as automated as possible, and
unless i'm remembering wrong, firefox doesn't install the flash plugin
automagically, just gives a button and says 'manual install'. Things
like that.
So does IE
They're not going to understand right away how awesome apt (and it's
GUIs) are, nor even fully understand the 'add/remove' thing.
That is a seperate issue. See below.
It's just how I see things, thinking back retrospectively to when I started.
Here is what it boils down to for me. There is no need to mention this
specific issues, because to be honest, they are not big ones. By
putting them on the page like that, you are making a mountain out of a
molehile. There are far better things to be using that space for, such
as talking about all the cool things that you get with Ubuntu,
including apt.
