At this point, it would be interesting to know how the Marketing team
hopes to achieve this goal.

There should be two different focuses.

The community should be "spreading the word" about Ubuntu. Giving out
CDs, writing articles, putting together beginner friendly ezines and
websites, passing out brochures, sending promo emails to lists that
they have access to. Our goal on this front is to have a constant
message and get it out to everyone. It should be clear, concise, and
to the point.

On the other side we have the company that is backing this and we need
to work closely with them. There are going to be businesses that are
interested in Ubuntu and they are going to need tech support and other
kinds of help, after all we know that most tech people these days
learn MS and if a company wants to switch to Ubuntu their tech people
will need training. We should make sure that business know about the
extra services offered. It should be build into the marketing
material. The best way to do that of course is to reference a website
that is constructed to market to small and large businesses.

There is already some excellent stuff out there that we can harness,
most if it seems to be in wiki though. What we need to do is put this
info together in a way that the average person can understand. I think
most people are puzzled by wiki at first, so we take that info and put
it into a normal html web page that everyone is used to and under the
more info link you can put all the stuff about the wiki and links and
things. Key is to keep it simple. If you can walk into a senior center
and have them understand your web page that is the best indicator that
it is understandable to the general population.

The main problem with tech people is that they think like tech people.
Try to think 4th to 5th grade as that is the average reading level of
adults in the USA. If you are in other counties and know the reading
level stats I would be most interested to hear them.

The average reading level for the Deaf / Deaf-Blind population that I
work with is 3rd grade.

Let me know what you guys think, feed back is good and the only way we
are going to get things done. I should note that I only read the
archives from July.

Thank You,
Beth Koenig
