Hi list,

I'm thinkig about some activities in the marketing/media relations area.
The idea is handing out notebooks with ubuntu/kubuntu/edubuntu/xubuntu
to journalists to write about their "ubuntu experience" like in a diary
or whatever. Due to the fact, that face to face contact is one of the
main points in successful public relations, there should be advocates
who guide the journalists through installation process, are at hand when
questions raise and take care for comfortability

The target group should not be the computer-media but more regular
newspapers, lifestyle magazines , radio and tv.
The Machines should be handed out for, say four weeks and afterwards
given back and handed over to the next journalist.

The machines could be provided by local hardware/ -leasing/
-manufacturers / -sellers, whatever. To achieve this support, it would
be nice in my eyes, if someone with "official" status would support it.
I think its much easyer for Jane, Mark, or some other well known persons
to give it a kick and get sponsors involved. I asked some companies
about that idea, but most of them don't trust "unknown guys" coming in
and asking for sponsorship.I 'd like to open this as a marketing/media
"sub-project" in launchpad, or the wiki, being not sure right now which
would be the appropriate place.
The idea needs some more discussion about details and it could be done
over the ml but should be documented somewhere else.
