Depending on how many people are interested in this, we can make one later. But in that case, I think it should be independent from the marketing team, since having the research subordinated the marketing would give the impression that all the research in the Ubuntu community is done solely for marketing purposes - which isn't the case.
This is also why I am somewhat hesitant to add my research projects to the marketing/research page, as they're not specifically done with marketing in mind, but rather to gather general data on the community. I'll add them, since they're likely to be of interest to other people doing similar work, but I want to make it clear that these projects are anthropological in scope and initiated with researching market segments in mind.
