As you may know, I've recently been appointed to the position of Co-Chief
Editor for the Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter. At the not-so-recent marketing
meeting we had, I volunteered to develop an application to help make the
Feisty Changes section in the newsletter easier to manage. If you've ever
helped out with the Feisty Changes section, you know that it is very tedious
(not to mention intimidating); hopefully this will no longer be the case.
Last night I sat down and hacked and tested away for a good 20-30 minutes to
produce The Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter Development Branch Commit Notification
Mail Spool Parser - TUWNDBCNMSP for short <g>. Basically, I've created a new
g-mail account which is subscribed to the fesity-changes mailing list. Near
the end of each UWN cycle, I will run the script which will download the
e-mails and parse them to help produce nice, human read-able output so that
anyone can help write the feisty changes section. The following is some
example output:

I already have some plans to improve the output (such as maybe including the
long description if the package exists in Edgy) or just extracting any urls
in the long description of the package to help make the changelog easier to
find. I'm welcome to suggestions.
I should also note that the script will be able to parse our backlog as well
- all that needs to happen is the old e-mails need to be fwded to the gmail
account. However, it should be noted that if you send a package twice then
the package sent last will be the only one kept (which works well for normal
operation but if you don't send them in the right order manually then you
might get an old version listed in the output - which isn't the end of the
world but might cause confusion).
