I am a distrowatch http://distrowatch.com/ watcher (!) and I see
that its one dimensional distro rank list does not account for
look-alike distros. Ubuntu is mostly still at No1. However, a simple
grand total of ubuntu, kubuntu, edubuntu, also mint, ubuntu-CE,
pioneer, etc etc etc with other near clones of ubuntu would give a
more realistic picture of the (hopefully) ubuntu dominance in the
market. This concept is useful to help to underpin ubuntu as a brand
item making it more visible to those microsoft userers who are
thinking of a change.

For most people Computers mean 'microsoft'.
We could make that 'microsoft, OR *Ubuntu*'. It has a more specific
ring than 'Linux'.

A similar approach for a download counter would also be really good.
