Hi I hope this is the right place to submit ideas such as this.

I'd really like to see a ubuntu tv-commerical I think a lot of people
would respond to that form of marketing.

The idea I had was this a Mac parody. I'd would suggest that the main
ubuntu character is soft spoken, and sometimes cut off by the other
characters who get absorbed in details.

The script for the commerical would be something like this:

We see 2 people introduce themselves:
Mac: Hello I'm a mac
Win: And I'm a pc

A third character pops in, then a 4th, 5th, 6th filling up the
background with people... they are all dressed very differently some
dress professionally, some casual, some really wild (wigs, tie-dye),
some wearing military gear.

Win: Who are all of you?
Ubuntu: We are linux, we run on Mac and PC and a few other chip sets
you guy probably never heard of.

Linux is addressed by another linux (I like to think of this one as RedHat)
RedHat: How come you get to talk?
Ubuntu (in a whispered voice): Because I paid for the commerical.
RedHat: Oh, ok

The various linux distros disappear.

Win: So linux, perhaps you can settle a argument we were having I
think that the perfect mouse comes with 2 mouse buttons.
Mac: And I think that 1 button is more than enough.
Ubuntu: Well really that is a matter of preference..
Win: So how do you access your context menus?
Mac: I told you we have a triple click.
Ubuntu: Look guys it's really up to the users some users will want one
button, some will want two buttons, some users may prefer mouse
gestures, other users might use a joystick, heck I've even seen mice
with 5 buttons and a 2d scroll wheel.

Win: oh, Well what about the perfect place to put your applications
menu bar? I say the bottom is the most logical place. One button off
in the corner that expans to allow multiple subgroups...
Mac: That's totally not enough, you won't be able to access everything
with just one button. The perfect solution is to have multiple buttons
at the bottom with a unified menu bar at the top. What do you think
Ubuntu?
Ubuntu: Well again it's just a matter of preference, some users might
want one or more menu bars, some users will want one or more buttons,
some prefer to have a hidden menu that is activated by right clicking,
and some users may not want a menu at all. It's really just a matter
of preference.

Mac: I have this great music player I call it an IPod.
Win: I have a music player called a Zune.
Ubuntu: Oh hey Mac, win your into technology you might like this:

Shows an ipod to Mac + Win

Ubuntu: Can your IPod do this?

Anyways I think you can see where this is going.
Thanks for listening.
I'm going to try to make this into an mpg. But I don't really have the
voice / acting abilities to make a professional quality one.
