The first time I "live" booted with the Feisty x86_64 CD it went well but refused to deliver the 1024 X 768 resolution ended up with an 800 X 600 resolution on the desktop. The monitor is a 17" KDS - XF-7b. The computer is an HP Pavilion a1230n. AMD 64.
I tried to install anyway. I had to use the panel configuration dialog and put the move-arrows on the menu bar and pager bar to move them out of the way in order to see the Next button at all and could only see about 10 or so pixels of the top of it and the cancel buttons. Due to unexpected time constraints I had to cancel the install before the partitioning and wait until the next day. The first attempt today to load the "live" desktop it reached the initial "run-install' option screen and made a single post test beep. Again booted to 800 X 600 resolution. On the second attempt today to load the "live" desktop it reached the initial "run-install' option screen and made a single post test beep. Hit return and the CD just stopped loading. No errors, Nothing. Waited 2 min. Powered down, then powered up booted. The third attempt took an extremely long time to load and generated a single post test beep and reported a problem with the mouse. "Udev db could not find a mouse" or something similar. Finally it showed an X cursor which moved by mouse but the but again stopped loading. No further error messages. It failed to reach the "run-install" screen. Ubuntu 6.10 "live" CD loads fine. The current Ubuntu 6.10 hdd installation loads fine as does the openSuSE 10.2 hdd installation. No "post test beeps". dmesg reports no errors. in either. Pardon this, but Windows XP loads without any errors also. All load to a 1024 X 768 x24bit resolution.
