I didn't like the control center, and prefer the menu layout that has already existed in Gnome. The wonderful thing about Linux and UNIX is the ability to separate components, and deliver just what the user wants. I just want the keyboard shortcuts config, rather than the whole panel, when I just want to change my shortcuts. Same goes with everything else in those menus. If the control center makes it's way back into Gnome or Ubuntu Linux, that's fine. I just prefer the simplicity of the current design. However, with that said, I would love to see some major design changes in Gnome. KDE and Xfce have been making some big progress in this area, but Gnome seems to be working on applications, and not the GUI. I would love to see Gnome make enough major changes worthy of a 3.0 release. Not that the version number is important, but that the changes are significant enough to warrant such a version change.
