It still needs a lot of work, but I think it represents more or less
what was originally in my head.
Any input/ideas/criticism is more then welcome.

That is impressive! Nice work.

Here are some very minor things to consider:
* some times I see something interesting and before I click it it falls off
the bottom of the list. :-( Could be fixed by linking to whatever source the
link is from via a "read more »" link maybe.
* you can remove the transcorners.js file, and if you modify the IE6 code
in the bottom of the page to use prototype, you can also remove the mootools
js as well, since you appear to be using proto/scriptac... (that'll save you
close to 40k)
* that is *your* google analytics code in the bottom and not the stuff from
the ubuntu.com homepage, right? (yes, its different, but I recently changed
the tracking code, so can't tell if you copied the older code verbatim or
modified it to use your own code) If you just copied the ubuntu code, I can
either create a new google analtics account for this site, you can get rid
of the analytics code completely, or you can create your own google
analytics account.
* We need more padding on the left side (ubuntu.com does too) - start out
with .5em padding left on the paragraph below "help us!" in the left column.

Have you blogged about it? I'm curious to learn more about what's going on
here. :-) I can't help it, I'm a sucker for shiny (if its useful).
