Hello, First, let me introduce myself. My name is Nicholas LaRacuente. I am a student at Swarthmore college and an active member of the Free Culture organization that was founded there. I have been using Ubuntu for the last 8 months and watching this list for 1 of those.

I would point out that downloads crawl whenever music is playing in the background: http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/08/28/0256208 And then there's the whole spiel about protected content and Vista's DRM enforcement. I think this is a big deal, because it's one point where the ideological reasons for using Linux meet its practical benefits. Maybe this is a point that needs to be more out there - free software will not interfere with your use of content you've purchased in an attempt to enforce someone else's licensing.
