whyubuntu.com will be purchased with a registrar on Monday (don't like
making other people work on Sunday). The space has already been
allocated. Please contact me directly ([email protected]) if you're interested in working on this so I can build an email list, distribute the password & discuss layout etc. Thanks! This is just awesome! I originally wanted to contribute by becoming a mirror, but this seems to be waaaay better. -Jacob [email protected] wrote: Send ubuntu-marketing mailing list submissions to [email protected]To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-marketing or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [email protected] You can reach the person managing the list at [email protected] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of ubuntu-marketing digest..." Roecker" <[email protected]> Subject: [ubuntu-marketing] whyubuntu.com To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Dear All: I would like to offer to purchase server space for a ubuntu advertising campagin similar to the windows mojave / I'm a PC I'm a Mac deal. I'm a new user to the OS and thrilled that I have an alternative to windows. More people ought to know about this! More people ought to know about edubuntu! I wanna help spread the word. I can pay for the space, but my time and programming skills suck. I think if it hosted a series of video testimonials maybe it could do some good. We could start by putting positive youtube vids on the site... and then clean it up from there. Eventually people need to be able to post their more professional vids.... It'll cost me $15 a year to host. I'd love to throw some google ads on there to help offset the cost of my other projects ( http://reprise.trailbrain.com ). But I'll do what the group decides. There's several domains available, anyone would work fine: whylinux.us whyubuntu.com whyubuntu.net whyubuntu.us Please let me know if I'm totally off my rocker here. I'm just thrilled that I've got my kids compy working at a faster than XP pace on ubuntu 8.4 and that the edubuntu add-on has helped my 7 year olds math skills improve.... Why don't more schools go with this???? Thanks for your time. -Jacob ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Sun, 28 Dec 2008 10:25:10 +0000 From: Martin Meredith <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [ubuntu-marketing] whyubuntu.com To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" On Sat, Dec 27, 2008 at 11:01:07PM -0600, Jacob F. Why don't more schools go with this????whyubuntu.com might be a good idea, it's a good marketing tool (domains names can be great marketing tools nowadays (just look @ getfirefox.com!) and well, it lets people advocate in a sensible manner. If people can put across good arguments rather than "Well, Linux is cool, and stuff" - then, why not set it up? I'd be happy to lend my Web Development expertise to a project like this, and can probably find a designer who's interested in doing this also. If you're willing to fund this, then I'm willing to help out as much as I can. I've BCC'd this to my designer friend, I'll let you kow if he's interested in helping out! --- Regards, Martin "Mez" Meredith -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
