Hey Martin:

Can we set up an FTP directory to upload videos like the one created today?  If we give each video project a 'folder' to manage their files including their pics it would turn into a nice library for other folks to draw from.  If I had the screenshots, I could work something out with the current video.

Ronnie:

I'd recommend ditching Windows Movie Maker.  Take a look at Sony Vegas... They generally offer a 30 day trial.  The learning curve for it is very easy and in the 30 day window you should be able to create a few good vids.  I wish someone would model a video editor for linux after Vegas....  It's stinkin easy to use.

I'm never going to tell anyone they shouldn't have tried.  Ronnie, you've got a good first attempt.  You can dramatically speed up the pace of the video by shortening the time each screenshot.  People will be able to process the comparisons.  If it gets cleaned up a bit, I would definitely host it on whyubuntu.com.  You've got the right idea.

As far as music goes pick something that will not involve copyright infringement.  Any video submitted, I'm going to trust has already gone through this process.  Several of the independent artists I listen to have allowed me to use their tunes for various things.  It should also appeal to a wide audience.

That being said I've got a copy of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" reworked by a friend of mine.  The latter half is upbeat enough to work as background music.  If there ends up being a couple of videos with this in the background, it might help for continuity.  I've uploaded it online at this URL:  http://roeckerfam.com/blumen/10_Beethovanova.mp3

All in all, good work.  Good progress!

Thanks everyone.

Just to clarify, have you bought www.whyubuntu.com because it redirects to
SourceGuru.net :S? Or has a domain squatter caught it?

I'm hosting it at the moment, the DNS is pointing at me, but I haven't setup
apache yet, so it redirects to my blog
