Hi,

Begin: 20.09 UTC
End: 21.17 UTC

Participants: Nafallo, persia, imbrandon, DktrKranz, sistpoty, ScottK, geser,
proppy, jcastro, ian_brazil

Announcement Mails: DktrKranz agreed to send announcement mails for the next
meeting.

As there were no scheduled topics on [1], the meeting started right
with "other business".

ScottK asked for any feedback of using interdiff when dealing with package
upgrades. Responses were mixed, and persia stated that he had prepared a
basic tool to simplify the process [2], which however would still need work.
ScottK also informed us that RainCT would be want to work on the script,
which found general consensus. Persia stated, that ubuntu-dev-tools would be
a good home for this script.

ScottK raised the next topic, if packaging jams [3] were useful for the MOTU
community. The discussion lead to concerns if focussing on new packages is
appropriate for the MOTU situation. This topic was discussed separately, so
see below. jcastro annotated that packaging jams were not only related to new
packages. sistpoty wrote that packaging jams are a way to get people from
LoCo teams into the MOTU world in the first place. There was general
consensus that the actual content should focus on work that needs to get done
in the MOTU world instead of new packages only. ScottK annotated that the
current wiki entry would be too much focussed on only new packages. Persia
agreed to update the wiki accordingly.

The topic "new packages vs. bugfixing as a means to get hopefuls involved" was
discussed partly during the above topic. ScottK raised the concern that people
pushed new packages in the archive and then vanished. persia agreed and
pointed out that many new packages that have entered through REVU weren't
properly maintained [5]. imbrandon stated that contributors shouldn't be
limited in their activity to one particular topic. persia had the idea that
REVU uploaders should subscribe to the package on LP. This found general
consensus.

proppy raised the next topic, if MOTU hopefuls should be encouraged to review
other packages. After a short discussion, it was clear that REVU should be
fixed to allow non-MOTU comments. proppy volunteered to make a spec for the
changes [6].

Fixed topic: Next MOTU meeting.
It was voted that the next meeting will take place on 2007-12-21, at 12.00
UTC.

Finally there was a vote to end the meeting, which found unambigous consensus.

Cheers,
   Stefan.
