Hi, Concerning gutsy package: athcool (0.3.11-1ubuntu1) [universe]
Package: athcool Status: install ok installed Priority: extra Section: misc Installed-Size: 124 Maintainer: Ubuntu MOTU Developer <[email protected]> Architecture: i386 Version: 0.3.11-1ubuntu1 Current repostitory package for athcool caused my computer to crash. This was because my mobo ASRock K7S41GX is not supported by athcool version 0.3.11 I found out that Jacobi (original author?) does have newer version (0.3.12) availble that fixes this problem. Dowloaded it from http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/jacobi/linux/softwares.html#athcool and compiled. Now athcool seems to work: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/sbin$ sudo athcool stat athcool version 0.3.12 -SNIP- Warningandstuff -SNIP- SiS 741/741GX/M741 (1039 0741) found 'ACPI C1 Disconnect Enable' bit is enabled. The processor seems to run few degrees cooler (from 57 to 52), so I guess it helped. So, I just thought that maybe you should be informed that new version is available so that others that use the SiS741 series chipsets may enjoy cooler AMD Athlons as well.
