Hi! I develop AVR microcontroller code using Ubuntu. I just upgraded to
Bionic and noticed that the avr-gcc version is still gcc 5.4.0, which is
nearly three years old. I'm curious, is there a reason the AVR
cross-compiler is being held back, instead of using a more modern version
of gcc? The release notes to gcc indicate they're making improvements to
the AVR back-end fairly regularly.

Regards,
