I tried unity-scope-mythtv on a spare machine. I used a freshly upgraded 12.04 machine. I was able to find recordings on my 11.10/0.25 backend using search from the dash. However, when I tried to play the video, I either got a crash report or nothing. It appears to default to totem even though I tried to make vlc the system default for videos.
I installed mythfrontend so I would have mythavtest, but mythavtest crashed too. Let me know how much detail reporting you need.
