A couple of weeks ago I started testing Mythbuntu on an Toshiba
Satellite laptop, model L45-S7423. It has I dual-core 1.46Ghz Pentium,
and 1GB RAM (two 512 modules). Its screen is damaged so that it's
missing the right 1/4, but also supports a second monitor, and that
shows a duplicate of what's on the laptop screen.
After installing Mythbuntu and setting it up I observed a populated
program guide -- the various channels had program data associated with
them. I had to put the machine away for a few weeks until this past
Saturday when I made a place for it where I can leave it running.
However, now I don't have a populated program guide. I also had an error
message asking me if the back end was running, and if the IP address was
correct. After running mythtv-setup I verified that the answer to both
of those questions is yes. And, after restarting mythbackend I'm no
longer asked those questions.
I went back to mythtv-setup and checked Video source setup. It shows
that for the video source named Antenna, the Grabber is North America
(Schedules Direct) (Internal). Using the arrow keys I cannot get to the
Retrieve Lineups button. Clicking on it with the mouse cursor I can see,
briefly, a progress bar that shows 50%, and has shown 50% for many hours.
On the Connect source to input screen, I can reach the Fetch channels
from listing source button, as well as the Scan for channels button.
When I clicked on the Scan for channels button I watched it step through
all the channels (0? through 69) that are visible from my antenna. But
when I click on the Fetch channels from listings source button I don't
see anything happening.
Yesterday I was able to use the Manual Schedule feature and successfully
scheduled a few segments of programs as a test.
This morning I discovered I was in a screen saver mode requiring a
password. That worked fine and I was able to verify that I still don't
have a populated program guide. I turned back to this machine to
continue this e-mail. When I turned back to the Myth box again only the
laptop screen showed the MythTV menu. The second screen is "blank"
meaning it has thin diagonal lines but is mostly black.
Any idea what's messed up, and how to fix it?
Thanks.
