If they are included though, it shouldn't be difficult to hide them out of the way. If there are only a couple of extra modes (excluding basic and scientific), then the extra modes could be accessed with the buttons at the bottom (the controls that appear on a swipe from the bottom). If there are many modes, they could be enabled (or even downloaded as extensions) in the settings, which will then add them to the controls as previously mentioned. So, the basic and scientific modes are accessed through gestures, and extra modes are in the bottom controls.
