This is OK.
If you have a black screen, please confirm the following:
* You have all the ubuntu needed files at /data/ubuntu
* You enabled the needed kernel config changes for your kernel
* You can run adb root; adb shell; ubuntu_chroot shell
* You have the ubuntuappmanager running at the android side (adb shell;
ps | grep ubuntu).
Also check your logcat, it might be an issue with the ubuntuappmanager
(segfault or similar).
