swiping from the center of the screen to the left -> back swiping from the center to the right -> forward swiping from right edge to the left -> switch apps swiping from the left edge to the right -> go home i don't see why we need to have complicated rectangular gestures nor do i see the need for a button ... just have an overlay with two arrows (left/right) that shows up for half a second if the user touches the vertical middle third of the screen (with an option to disable this for experienced users) ciao oli PS: i see that we might want to keep a button for users that don't get along with gestures at all though, but if we make the gesture easily discoverable and kind of natural and logical that button should be possible to be omitted after all.
